I want to steal your stars Rhonda,Hostess and Summer, Mgr but they are not the whole story.  Here is what happened. 11:40 Pull into parking and straight into "pick up" parking. 11:42 Your Hostess, Rhonda got me past the line and into order line.  Rhonda has whole line smiling and happy. 11:55 Misty had my food ready & time to go. PAINLESS so far.......The best is yet to come-Onion rings are double wrapped which I not only noticed but appreciated since it kept food warm during my drive back to Coronado.  The food is all fantastic, There is something special that takes place when we go out to eat.  It starts with some sort of expectation and then the evening chips away at what we saw in our mind's eye.  We settle.  BBQ sounded good for lunch (I have an image of what I think good BBQ is) We had NO letdown at all.  When I thinK BBQ I will now see Phil's in my minds eye.  And Rhonda, Misty and the boss who makes it happen Summer.  And of course Phil, is there really a "Phil"?  We will be back and I won't be alone.  Thanks Rhonda, Misty and Summer and Phil."

March 28, 2012 - Bruce M. said, "Today my sister and I (she is 79, I am 70) came in for lunch.  She had never been, I had been to the store in Mission Hills a few years ago.  It was busy, we both have mobility issues. The reception we received was as if we were royalty! And for the next 45 minutes we were attended to, checked in with often and generally felt we were the most important customers there.  Both my sister and I agreed it was the BEST SERVICE EITHER OF US HAD EVER RECEIVED AT ANY RESTAURANT,AT ANY TIME ( and at our ages - well, you can imagine!)I ESPECIALLY want to give props to Manny, our server - he was kind, efficient, respectful, and friendly. You have won my heart and my return FOREVER!"

March 26, 2012 - Nina T. said, "Being from Texas, I was skeptical about finding good BBQ out in California, seeing as I've had many amazing experiences with BBQ down here. However, due to raving reviews from both friends and Yelpers, we decided to make it a point to try this place out... and it was worth it. The line was wrapped around out the door, and being impatient and hungry as we were, we decided to call in and to-go instead seeing as we were staying at the hotel across the street. Thank goodness! The to-go line was much much shorter and we got our food within 10-15 min. Both the beef and pork ribs were delicious, and I highly recommend their beans and coleslaw. The El Toro sandwich was really good even though I was stuffed by the time I got to taste it. They initially forgot some of our sides, but that wasn't a problem since we just had to run across the street to get it, and they even threw in some extra onion rings for the trouble. Good service and great food!"

February 13, 2012 - Matthew Tourtellott said, "As a San Diego native I have heard of how great Phil's has been from everybody that I know.  I had never had the chance to visit until this past Friday evening. I have always heard of the great "line" for Phil's but how it is very worth it.  The line that night was around the corner but we were up for the wait. My reason for writing is to let you know that Phil's has some fantastic staff members.  Everybody that we encountered had a great attitude and it was apparent that they truly enjoy their jobs.  One person in particular that made our experience memorable was Tammie.  She greeted us in line and ended up talking to us for quite some time.  Her playful demeanor and friendly attitude made our visit fun for the entire group.  You could tell that she really does love her job and had nothing but good things to say about the staff and management of Phil's. I just wanted to say thank you for creating a positive dining experience in San Diego, one in which I will definitely be returning, and let you know that Tammie, and all of the staff we encountered, really made the visit special and unique."

August 31, 2011 - Joy Mahmood said, "Orgasmic!!!!!!!!  Thanks to my Darling who took the time to look up the best for dinner.....Now I know why everyone was so patient in the longest line I've ever seen because it was worth the wait.  I can't even begin to talk about the Sangria which was the best that I ever had.  Amazing!!!! I never made out with my dinner before until tonite. Hope to visit again soon. Thank you!!!"

June 14, 2011 - Rick Midwood said, "This was our second time eating in your establishment.  I thought the first time maybe have been a fluke, however, you have shown me that you are consistently good (no, excellent) and your employees are ALL very attentive and personable.  I've been in business off and on most of my life and never was so fortunate as to have the type of employees you have.  Congratulations!  Your food is by far superior to any locally.  I only compare you to the Memphis BarBQue Championship in Las Vegas.  They are superb also.  Glad to find you here and open.  Also amazing how organized your restaurant is with the masses that filter through.  Again, just a huge THANK YOU for being there." 

May 29, 2011 - Margaret Chiu said, " I planned a huge surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend on the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. Our party consisted of 25 people, and Phil's BBQ staff handled it so incredibly smoothly! From the hostesses to our server LEWIS (most amazing server I have ever encountered anywhere! he could have single-handedly made our experience perfection!), to the cashiers and random staff members that responded quickly and professionally to our odd and spontaneous needs/questions, everyone was so gracious, informed, aware, easy to talk to and just plain friendly. Our group had family and friends visiting from Hong Kong, China, San Francisco, Davis, Los Angeles and Orange County, and everyone was very impressed and talked about coming again. We were also an extra-annoying group, having TWO birthday cakes that we wished to light candles on. Lewis helped us stow them in the fridge, provided a lighter, actually lit the candles (he may have even burned himself), and then brought us a knife and plates/forks which I foolishly had forgotten. I'm so sorry, Lewis, for being such a nuisance and inconvenience, and want to extend to you the greatesssst thanks and gratitude and respect for your above-and-beyond service. It was truly the most special birthday experience. I can't even imagine how this would have gone had we gone to a different restaurant. Finally, of course it goes without saying that the food at Phil's is fresh, delicious, and consistently so! Thank you, staff, for making every element of our experience memorable and enjoyable!"

 May 10, 2011 - Wende Rosson said, "Last year, when visiting San Diego, I saw the huge lines of people waiting to eat at your restaurant. This year, I made it my mission to stop by to see what all the fuss was about. I waited in line with over 150 people for 1.5 hours to get in and trust me... it was well worth it! The service was great! The staff was friendly and very helpful! The food was phenomenal! By far the BEST BBQ beef ribs I have ever eaten! Trust me, I am telling everyone I know to stop by your restaurant next time they are in San Diego!"

 February 2, 2011 - Ryan Scalmanini said, "I would just like to say how I'm continually impressed by your great food and customer service. I can't say there is another restaurant that cares about its customers they way you do. When I came to pick up my food an employee informed us that the burger was slightly overcooked and it would be a few more minutes so they could cook another one. while we waited we were given drinks and an apology. Not that it is a big deal, because mistakes are made. but the fact that you were honest about it and promptly fixed it was great. I will continue to frequent your establishment as I have yet to ever have a bad experience or food that was subpar...Go Phils! thanks for everything!"

January 25, 2011 - Andy Marchi said, "I have always loved your food.  Tonight was our first trip to the San Marcos location.....not only was the food excellent, I was overwhelmed by how courteous the employees were.  Everyone knows the difference between good service and great service....this was a step above.  I heard someone ask if they could take a glass to be refilled, they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed.  Honestly, it was over the top.  I would not have written this email if I wasnt so overwhelmed by the atmosphere at the north county location.  I took my wife, mother in law, and two kids, and it was the best dinner experience we have had in a long time.  The main person taking care of our table was a guy named River, but I witnessed this over the top, going out of thier way kindness from several of the employees, and not just toward my family and I, but to other tables as I went to use the restroom or get drink refills. Keep up the GREAT WORK....and the AWESOME RIBS!!!"

January 20, 2011 - Suzanne Smith said, "Moving to the food--   A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Not sure the name of the gentleman that delivered and set up but when he walked in -- the whole group was yelling FOOD IS HERE!! Literally they couldn't wait for it to be set up and ready to go!! I think this is the first time in the 3 years that I have been here that all my sales team 25 (5 were on vacation)  were actually plated, seated in the training room and eating by 11:45a, totally ready for when the Branch meeting starts, I honestly think my GM was shocked LOL...I got raves and "gotta have this more often" and "so glad it was Phil's". Even our pickiest peeps were totally satisfied with the lunch choice..What can I say??!!  but that you and the Phil's team really did a great job! Thank you so much for helping us set up the account and ordering lunch you definitely made this lunch a huge success. Loyal to Phil's BBQ-SuzAnne and the Arrow SD Team"

January 16, 2011 - Andre Miller said, "Tonight was probably my 20th visit since this Phil's opened in San Marcos. This visit was no different than any of the others. The service was Outstanding, Punctual, Courteous, Professional and done with great pride and enjoyment. Amanda was my cashier once again and whether it be Amanda or another cashier they are all outstanding. I had the chance to meet the manager Aaron and he is fantastic and has a great staff which is executing the companies superior goald and qualities of great food and service here in the North County. I look forward to my future visits and have certainly spread the word among my military and Govt friends to eat at Phil's."

October 4, 2010 - Michelle Piatt said, "My boyfriend and I were taking an elderly couple(one is in a wheelchair) out to dinner. It was a Saturday night and I called ahead to see what the wait was and I explained the situation. The very kind girl on the phone said just come on in and we would be assisted. So we did get there, Lavelle took us right in and got us the most convenient table for a wheelchair, and since this was the first time I had been there (Levelle was shocked me being a native and all) she proceeded to ask what we wanted and placed our order, she even got all of our drinks, let alone all of the other workers were contributing to ask if we needed anything. The couple we were with(the man is 94 yrs) had an amazing time due to your staff and of course the food was wonderful. Rhonda was also moving thru the crowd assisting poeple. You have an amazing staff as you probably already know. The couple wants to go back not only because the food is so good but because your staff was so kind. I really appreciate the kindness that we recieved that night. Thank you"

September 28, 2010 - Anthony Vargas who said, "I went there today for lunch. I was scared because I only have a 30 minute lunch. I work downtown. My friend mentioned the email club and the front of the line pass. I went to sign up and check out the rib cam. I began to crave ribs. Your ribs. Pork and beef. Fries. Rings. Slaw. I placed a phone order but nothing will happen until I get there. I was low on gas. I had to choose. Put gas or get my ribs and be back to work on time. Yes, I went for the ribs. I walked in and noticed no line for dine in. YES!!!!!! Place my order and went to restroom to wash up. Come out and bamm foods ready. I found a nice cozy spot with partial sun outside. It was all about me. And ribs. Your ribs. Coming together. Looked at the clock just enough time to get back but hmmm what about the gas. Light is on, a/c off, windows down, and needle just below the E. I made it. 35 min door to door. I am the happiest I have been. Good day!"
